So I didn't really see it mentioned elsewhere, but what do we make of the revelation that the Buckhorn plot is taking place about nine days behind the Twin Peaks events?

This has been my thought as well.

You didn't mishear. When Lillard's character dates the headshot of Briggs, he writes down 9/20.

I think it faded in the late 90's and the more anarchic, existential threat of "terrorism" took its place after 9/11*, but they're still very much extensions of the same global paranoia, I think, and for those who grew up during the Cold War, I can't imagine how it's not something at least at the back of their mind.

Oh, that's really what I was getting at. The atomic bomb is such a massive touchstone for his generation of artists and the one's right before that I'm a little surprised it hasn't come up before (though I know it's big for Frost too).

This feels fucked.

The Bomb is the sort of thing that I feel is a little worn out in fiction. Then I think about it for awhile and the magnificent horror of it as an invention and irreversible point in history settles into me, and I get it.

Maybe Lynch read Gravity's Rainbow in the last decade and was suddenly like "Whoa, this bomb is some bad business."

Honestly, if I saw a student film that looked like this—including the sound design, framing, various forms of effects as well as the narrative—I'd think the kid was a fucking genius.

People always say Season 2 sucks, but while there are definitely cracks in the early episodes, it only truly plummets after Leland's death.

I wanna say it was around when With Teeth came out (after his hiatus to try and clean up), but I'm not entirely sure.

The music added to that.

You can see the sketch of a good idea there (he's essentially Mr. C 1.0), but everything about him is so tiresome down to his dumb disguises.

In the original drafts, he sings a truly heart wrenching version of "Martha."

"This piece of art made me have an emotional reaction! Is that normal?"

I can only imagine the intention was to do it much quicker at first and then, for whatever reason, they just slowed down?

lol

I did think it funny that he was smoking a cigar when we first saw him this season, since he had kinda kicked the habit there by the end of Season 2 (instead always chewing on vegetables).

His hair actually stresses me the fuck out. It's receded on the sides and the wraps around to the back so that there's a river of skin between the two patches of hair. It's so bizarre.
