I really don’t think they talk that way because their language skills have devolved. They’re weird people who do weird shit, like art in the nude, live in a dump, and perform elaborate random-seeming group marches.

In Rick’s monologue thing at the beginning of the episode, he says they’re sticking to the plan, and going to the next phase. I really think the imprisonment @ the dump is somehow intentional and part of the plan. He couldn’t have been that sure the Scavengers would hop right on board, after their betrayal.

Good point. Crossing the long snapper’s face like that is a really good way to get guaranteed penetration*, although it would take too long for it to be useful in blocking a kick. Shuts down any fakes up the middle though.

Even with the regular defense out there, you can really see the lane down the right side for Willson if he isn’t blown up in the backfield. The defensive lineman on the left side went across the center’s nose to get into that gap to blow it up. He would never rush the kick like that. Defense knew it was coming somehow.
