Depending on the volume of work, they may be able to piece something together after the fact. I know that’s what they did with Roger Ebert after he lost his ability to speak (but obviously before he died).

I’m so glad someone had the foresight to do this with Majel Barrett. I hope someone has the foresight to do it with say, James Earl Jones as well.
