It’s not just the anime fans. Americans think it makes them incredibly classy to watch movies with subtitles.

and the menu is pretty damn limited.
I cannot get anyone to watch this show and it bums me out because it’s the best thing on TV right now
Better Made BBQ chips are the only thing keeping me in Michigan.
It’s an artistic choice that is designed to be reverential to the real Sharon Tate.
Yeah, this move will not age well in that regard. Manson was, during my Millennial childhood, still something of a mythic figure. He will become less so (unless he gets some kind of H.H. Holmes style reboot in the distant future) and the power of the implied threat here will lesson. The film doesn’t do enough to…
yeah dude
Five women have accused Polanski of raping them as young teens and he wrote about having sex with 15 year olds regularly in his autobiography.
yeah but without the Manson murders, he probably wouldn’t have had a 40 year long career in exile with Hollywood still slobbering over him.
Why not, though? That is how people viewed them, both within and without the anti-war movement. That’s what made it such an era defining moment. Nobody knew how crazy Manson was until the trial, some people from the anti-war movement praised him and stuck by him until it became clear he wasn’t really a socialist…
I think this completely misses what he’s doing. If IB were simply a film about fictional American unit, one that ended with Hitler shooting himself in a bunker, it wouldn’t be any less fictional or any less an act of “historical vandalism”. Films invent and distort history, in ways both big and small, all the time.…
A friend I saw the movie with was pissed because they “glorified Roman Polanski”... apparently they should have him ogling children every time he appeared on screen or something, instead of being a barely present non-speaking part.
Also notable that he left the actual Sharon Tate in the movie instead of inserting Robbie like he did with Leo in The Great Escape
I think the whole point of sending Cliff to the Ranch and noting that he recognized the assailants is that he could then tell on Charles Manson (who, for all we know, would do what he did IRL and go kill some other people the next day).

it was really more like Broad City but with birds and animated

yeah tbh it seems like this is Fargo in name only
The Big Chill is good
It’s weird to me that people keep saying this confirmed a fan theory. It, along with Skyfall, literally does the exact opposite.
