If the rest of Canada is so much similar to other parts of the United States why not just merge all of the culturally similar parts and break up both countries?

To play devils advocate momentarily, ignoring the question of whether CanCon is needed, this is the only logical way for it to function. Accepting the idea that Canada has an arts industry that needs to be protected, allowing radio stations to simply double down on Justin Bieber and Drake in an effort to shoehorn in

I was going to go with a Steinfeld/Seinfeld Bee Movie joke, personally.

There were always more deputies besides Andy and Hawk, going back to the first episode. We just never engaged with them and, after a certain point, stopped seeing them altogether.

I do agree that any show that requires you to understand both the previous materials in the franchise AND a series of unrelated films dating back nearly 40 years to even begin to penetrate it is maybe not entirely successful as art in it's own terms. This is like the culmination of Lynch's oeuvre, but as a work it

I mean in the original series, Cooper (our identification figure) wrongly assumes that Denise must "no longer like women" only to be corrected. I don't think we are supposed to read Cole's use of Dennis as anything other than him being old and imperfect, if well meaning.

A lot of people who hated Fire Walk With Me said this within the first 10 minutes of the revival

I imagine there's a certain strand of Twin Peaks fan who just wanted to watch The Killing without David Lynch shouting "MAYBE THERE'S A WEIRD DWARF??", too.

Remember that Lynch did not read Frost's book and that the actress playing Tammy is a long time Lynch collaborator. I feel like this was all his idea.

I don't think the show could ever decide if Twin Peaks was supposed to be some isolated town or an exurb of Spokane, so that fits in pretty well… TOS oscillated between quirky shit you'd expect from a town of 1000 people and worldly suburbanite attitudes.

The new Truman is clearly just a hastily written replacement for the real thing (how would he know so much about the Cooper investigation? Why would he be so invested?) so I am guessing Ontkean is out.

Yeah, this confirmed all the spoilers I read.

My favorite moment of the revival so far is in episode 4 when Denise, now FBI chief of staff throws all kids of shade on The X-Files by mocking Fox Mulder's habit of saying Federal Bureau of Investigation in full without abbreviation.

As I say downthread, you should head to Tumblr… bastion of 18 year old girls… and search #twinpeaks. It's very popular.

Meh. 18 year old girls who self identify as alternative are just as susceptible to wanting to be Audrey Horne seeing her on Netflix in 2017 as they were seeing her on ABC in 1991. The former didn't have the opportunity to buy the merch that came with with the Laura Palmer craze

All of the scenes with Tracy seemed intentionally porn-y.

The road is my dharma… yours… is…

I imagine that most AV Clubbers come with more of an inbuilt Lynch fandom than the mean. But I also think it''s unfair to criticize people who loved the show itself and disliked FWWM or this revival or other Lynchian ephemera. It's a low art-high art debate, which means it's hopelessly flawed… from my perspective,

Twin Peaks has a substantial following among the Tumblr set. It's not as unnatural a connection as you may think, it's typically the next stop people get to after watching The X-Files on the 90's nostalgia train.

I'm pretty sure the only comment Lynch would like would be one that said "David Lynch is played out and should have stopped with Blue Velvet"
