Take your star, my man. You made my day.

How does that fence lodged up your butt taste, my dude?

Of course they are! Car companies want to sell you cars. How do they do that in a market loaded with cars? Make better more desirable cars! The Obama-era regulations make it so all the companies need to invest in innovation which reduces risk for companies that wanted to but may have been having budgetary wars over

States rights! Unless we don't like what they do.

It’s really remarkable to me when the emotional fantasies of owning libs and riding an armored tank under a spewing oil well suddenly come crashing into the actual reality, and you find businesses literally saying “nah man we’re gonna stick with the regulations the democrats imposed on us.”

It should be noted that the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee is chaired by Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming. Before becoming a Senator, and implementing environmental policies, he had a background in... *checks notes*... working with rodeo clowns as the head physician for the Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s

12 other states have adopted California’s standards and better fuel economy is literally in everyone’s best interests.  What’s your issue with this?

That IS, I think, kind of the concern. They’ve tooled up for improved fuel economy, but if the regulations no longer require it, there’s room for someone who hasn’t spent that R&D money to undercut them.

The reason we don’t have kei cars is because of crash test regulations, not fuel economy regulations.

Since Trump wants to destroy everything he perceives as Obama’s work, can we tell him the 25 year import rule was also Obama’s doing?

No. Trump wants the auto manufacturers to not comply with California’s emission standard. He is, in fact, urging them to produce cars with emissions higher than what they are willing to do to.

Fuel and emissions standards spurred more innovation in the automotive industry than any other factor in the history of the industry.

It’s as if America is run by the kid who got swirlies every day in high school, and is now heading the reunion committee so he can “forget” to invite people!

They have an ideology and that is giving their buddies more money. The rollback is not about raising emissions, its about using more gas. Gotta keep the oil billionaires in good standing.

Trump: WE ARE THE PARTY OF BUSINESS AND FREE MARKETS!

Plus the research is done, tooling has been ordered, and tier 2 manufacturers are likely in the process of being ramped up to comply with the standing regulation.

Another big issue is that the automotive industry has spent billions of R&D dollars to develop future vehicles that are significantly more fuel efficient compared to similarly powered vehicles from when before the Obama-era regulations were enacted. For example, turbo 3s, 4s, and 6s are ubiquitous today because the

The answer is no; now, what’s the question?

I understand the Republican belief that eliminating regulations is good, but what’s the point of urging car manufacturers to raise emissions? Like, isn’t the whole point of eliminating regulations to give business the freedom to do what it wants? And if what it wants is even better for the Earth, why fight it?

i kind of feel like it’s more cost effective to stick with the new regulations, it’s almost like there are entire other continents out there with stricter regulation that these manufacturers want to keep selling cars in....
