I’m sure that you realise the difference between the mostly flat roads in and around Austin vs. the winding, twisty roads through most of the Shenandoah Valley, right?

I have two overarching philosophies about this:

Either 1 or 2 speeds.

Or I like my planetary eCVT in my Fusion hybrid right now (because it is quite something to see it read: current average 40.1 mpg) in a car the size of the Fusion.

And I will also say that after you’ve spent almost three years in a eCVT where fuel

I have a “conventional” hybrid right now and I can tell you that dealing with traffic jams in Toronto is not as stressful now. Everybody keeps their engines humming. Mine will just shut off and go into electric mode, traffic from a fuel consumption standpoint is less of a concern/worry now.

No. The dick move is tailgating. There’s NEVER any reason to do it.

If you can’t maintain control of your car, that’s your fault.

How much will the Pacifica PHEV be?

It’s interesting reading people’s comments on this topic.

I will admit that I’ve never actually been in a tunnel or performed Aero CFD for an OEM before, but as someone who leans more towards the CFD side of the business, the correlation studies is an area that I am particularly interested in and focus on.

It starts on page 391 of 629 in the PDF...

So first, a disclaimer. I’m an engineer at Ford. So the following is my opinion and I’m no lawyer either.

That’s annoying. They’re calling their plug-in hybrid system a “hybrid” (dropping the plug-in moniker). Grrr....way to add more confusion to the people...Thanks a lot, Chrysler!

PREACH!

I haven’t done it in a while, but last I heard/remember, the industry-standard explicit dynamics software that is used isn’t capable of using GPGPUs to run the solver.

As someone who actually used to do this (my role was crash safety simulations engineer/CAE analyst) in the supplier base for a living - mehhh...there are elements that aren’t exactly entirely true and there are elements that’s grossly simplified.
