Having seen this flick a few years back, I found comparing it to Zombie Land rather than The Walking Dead more useful. I think even the title suggests the comparison, as if they were making an unauthorized pseudo-sequel.

That commercial has been airing with episodes for awhile, at least in my market, and while I agree that Tom's probably not dead, I wouldn't read anything into that commercial other than "current marketing departments think "co-branding" is a really cool buzzword"
