It’s not even that. Productivity and manufacturing output has RISEN even as the number of people working in manufacturing fall. The fact remains, automation has done far more to kill manufacturing then outsourcing ever will.

The problem with regulating prices in a “normal” economy is that you reduce profit to the point where it’s literally cheaper to lay off everyone and stop producing goods, so you simply end up with more people out of work.

Exactly. Both Wind and Solar are cheaper per MW/h then Coal is, so that pretty much spells the death knell for Coal fired power plants going forward. We’ll get there.

Ending Disease, Natural Disaster, and War? Congratulations, you just caused overpopulation, poverty, and exhaustion of natural resources. All three are effective forms of population control.

The way I see it, a company like Tesla has a ton of startup costs. This isn’t surprising. If the Model 3 sells, and they can ramp up production, then their balance sheets should stabilize. If not, they go bankrupt.
