HDMI sync has always been on PS3. That was one of the early selling points of it over the 360 as a media centre, since the 360 didn't even launch with HDMI. Do you not remember this? Tell your GP you're forgetting stuff.

Have done. PS3 supports it, always has done. It's not new tech you know, it's just (for some reason) Microsoft and Nintendo opt out of it.

The PS3 does support it. The PS4 supports it. The Xbox One, Wii U, Xbox 360 don't support it.
