Generally, I agree. I think BotW deserves a 9.9/10, not a perfect 10. Its other qualities are so damn good that the less-than-perfect technical execution is only a minor detractor for me (and many people).

That’s such an awesome story. It’s truly a testament to excellent game design where someone—like your fiancée—who typically dislikes traditional gaming is able to pick up a massive, open-world masterpiece like BotW and really enjoy themselves.

Well I mean, BotW still has pretty shitty graphics when you look up close. Aliasing is everywhere. Compare that to a game like Pikmin 3, which is a beautifully rendered experience, and you just wonder how much more visual polish Nintendo could pull off with more horsepower.

Damn this game looks great. It makes me wonder what Nintendo could have done with Breath of the Wild if they had modern hardware performance at their disposal...

Cooool story, bro. 10/10 would ignore again.

He pulled an E. Honda on that thing...

Ah yes. Even more blow-out-of-proportion-ism with just a dash of White Knight.

How foolish of Nintendo to take a little time to investigate the root cause of the issue before making a public statement about it. They shouldn’t even bother to suggest potential causes of interference in the mean time to rule out consumers who may be experiencing an unrelated issue.

Yeah. Those people will be laughing at all us suckers who “suffered” through a temporary, mostly-inconsequential controller issue in order to enjoy 60+ hours of pure Zelda bliss.

Pretty sure you work for Sony or Microsoft or something. I’ve never seen anyone so FURIOUS about Nintendo having a limited-run hardware problem that they’ve offered to fix for free...

Damn. I want kids so bad! I guess there really isn’t a better time to be gay and able to have a kid, so maybe someday?

Iga and his whole Kickstarter team have handled this entire project so masterfully that it’s almost made me forget the terror that was Unsung Story and probably dozens of other shitty Kickstarter projects... Being very clear about replacements and refunds for a change like this is the right way to go.

Nintendo seems to be pretty good about this sort of thing. I’m glad it was an isolated manufacturing issue and not an inherent design flaw. Big N needs all the positive press and support we can give ‘em to make the Switch a (long-term) success!

Yeah, I’m not saying all games do this. But the whole “each account has its own unique save data” isn’t super new. It’s a little awkward what BotW is doing. They should probably be more explicit about the warning (ALL save data).

This isn’t exactly new. Since the PS3 era of user accounts tied to saves, I’ve seen this be the case with a lot of games. It is kind of annoying, but still...at least it is possible to create more accounts.

The double standard absolutely exists. 10,000%. It’s disgusting.

Let’s rename this “What Witcher Game Are You Playing This Weekend?”

No, not any shield. Wooden shields won’t work. Any metal shield as far as my testing went. Doesn’t have to be a guardian shield.

Shield reflecting Guardian beams is so f’ing bad ass. Whereas I used to be terrified of them, I now hunt them down!

My copy is still rotting away on my PS4 HDD after I played it once and never launched it again...I see no reason to revive it because of this update.
