They're a lot more melodic and song-based than a lot of electronica, so I think a lot of people like them for that. But if a song like Cowgirl doesn't get you going, I just don't think it can be explained.

Shrug, the scene's just as strong as it ever was, you just gotta know where to look. The minimalist stuff seems to be the big trendy thing right now, from what I've seen…but really, there are tons of thriving genres and a pretty big scene devoted to them.
Would definitely have included Aphex Twin for something a little more challenging, and Fatboy Slim since for awhile he was pretty inescapable.
Yeah, really. But then, who hasn't heard Daft Punk?
Kinda odd that you lumped Groove Armada in with the "dated" sounding stuff. They feed right into the downtempo stuff that got a lot more trendy in the 00s.
I was huge into Industrial Music as a teenager, but I remember latching onto the White Album because it was so experimental. It's not hard to draw a line between some of the more offbeat tracks of the White Album and something like Throbbing Gristle. I was pretty shocked to find out anyone was doing anything like…
Van Der Britta?
So this seems as good a place to ask as any. I've watched a few Miike
movies, but I've only seen the first Dead or Alive movie, and it was
probably my favorite Miike movie I've seen. Are the other two worth
watching?
@avclub-91546109eaf110327d50b0955865712a:disqus : One thing I like about the way that Bleach did its filler arcs is that they pretty clearly separated them out of them main story and hung a sign up that said, "This is filler, yo." The tone in the filler arcs would often be a lot lighter than the main arcs, as well. …
I know exactly what you mean. On paper this looks like it should be terrible, but I like the offbeat, darker humor. What scares me is Krysten Ritter's character actually reminds me a lot of some of my friends…which may mean I need new friends.
At least him just jerking it hasn't become a running joke like I feared after the first episode. I kind of like the meta humor of making the omnipresent sitcom next door neighbor into a super creepy guy. That almost counts as a deconstruction of the trope.
Well, I think the point is that for a lot of people, this is the first time they have to realize that fact. When you've been in school your whole life, kind of walking on a proscribed path, you feel like you're building up to something. Then suddenly you're in the "real world" and there's a big sense of "Well, now…
@avclub-8146f98d564daf7f6cc87d9edcb92705:disqus : Pierce decides to start cooking meth to get his fortune back? I pick Britta for the Jesse role, since she's all about fronting and I bet her ending every sentence with 'Bitch!' would be funny. I guess Jeff can be Saul.
It may have been Knox executing the plan, but Gunn lost his legal knowledge at just the right time to get the sarcophagus out of customs. And like the doctor said when Gunn started to lose his legal abilities, if he lost them it was because the Senior Partners wanted him to. So it seems like they gave things just…
@avclub-e57f718840a576abbb40a7d046c4e3b0:disqus : I've had a few people tell me I look like Nicolas Cage. Does that count?
Richard D. James? Well, he does kinda look supervillainish on the cover of The Richard D. James Album and I Care Because You Do.
I've been reading too much about politics, because I read that first one as "Romney's Baby" and was really confused.
I always found it a great touch that Azula's flames are blue when she shoots them, but when something is left behind burning from them, they turn to the normal red/orange.
@avclub-77a30f3aed77aef3d4ed12bf43df6964:disqus : I should point out that Aang actually could have beaten Ozai without the Avatar state…if he had redirected the lightning back at him. Ozai was clearly caught off guard and was wide open. Aang sacrificed his chance for his moral convictions.
I always took it as them being more actively pursued in Season 1, so they kept low to the ground more often to be less noticeable.
