Facebook sucks, but this app doesn’t seem too different from the whole Cambridge Analytica thing so it isn’t crazy that the FTC would tell them to block stuff like this. The creators of this app say they are only looking at ads and not anything else, but as far I can see you pretty much just have to take their word

Yup. Which makes you wonder what the “cutting-edge A.I. technology and human moderation” is supposed to do (ignoring for a moment that it almost certainly doesn’t actually exist.)

If it’s a one-and-done activation I wouldn’t be upset. But like, after activation the whole BT hardware fully kills itself before I leave the store, akin to the removal of an anti-theft tag.

A 2020 National Retail Federation survey found organized retail crime costs more than $700,000 per $1 billion in sales.”

Oh no my seven one-hundredths of one percent what will I dooooooooo

The Tea Party was the American Taliban.

MAGA is American ISIS.

Next step, you don’t own the tool.  You only purchased a 1 year subscription to use it.

HARD NO.
I don’t want to have to ever have to apply firmware updates on my power tools to close the latest bluetooth vulns.

Isn’t that what is was designed for? To help terrorists...?

My parents got vaccinated just two short weeks ago, and only because it was needed to travel to Hawaii... they are both in their 60's, and they both said that their DOCTORS told them they didn’t need the vaccine because they are low risk.

*Pulls wilted Grab N’ Go salad and 2-day old taquito from mouth.*

In other shocking news, people that get their groceries from 7-11 are more anti-vegetables.

I’ve never really taken note of Chalamet in anything — I’ve seen him in a few things, but he’s not stood out in either a good or a bad way in any of them.

So deeply excited for this, Villeneuve’s vision and direction had me sold. Not excited about Chalamet and Zendaya though; everything I’ve seen them in they have....not been good.

Did Biden fault Facebook for the content shared on its platform?

I don’t think you’re wrong, but if the Pegasus Project has taught us anything, it’s that the claim of “security” is laughable, at best.

At best Apple will do an improved iMessage -> RCS bridge. Maybe emoji reactions and typing indicators will bridge. But I can’t imagine Apple would ever give up iMessage. The reason given will be “security / privacy” but the real reason is platform lock-in.

I trust the ACLU to understand the First Amendment better than you do. Norwood v. Harrison (1973): “[The Government] may not induce, encourage or promote private persons to accomplish what it is constitutionally forbidden to accomplish.”

But we do have very good data about who voted in the general election and who didn’t and their respective motivations. Progressives largely plugged their noses and voted for Biden because the threat of Trump was worse. However, moderates and even Republicans voted for Biden that would otherwise have not voted or voted

Would you rather Warren had gotten the Democratic nom and lost AZ, PA, GA, and MI....so we’d be living through the second Trump administration?

I mean, it’s just a bootleg fire. If it was a studio-produced fire, they’d have to pay a lot more.
