Only to a cetain level. Problems against lefties are ultimately just experience issues, so once you fence enough of them it’s just another fencer. I was fencing a new guy last night and didn’t realize he was a lefty until a few touches into the bout.

The rider was fortunately well trained enough to continue on with the performance without her handler.

A ranking of fencing weapons

What do you mean getting hit by a car shouldn’t be an Olympic sport, it’s very dangerous!

Fencing’s going to be cracking this year

Was inspired to look it up, and according to MiLB gameday it was HBP. Anyone have a milb subscription? @Durham last night, bottom 3rd to Gillaspie

Nah, the batter was clear. He even seemed to be holding his ground as if it wasn’t a walk, thus my doubt on the count. Does going into the dugout change anything? Even on a walk the ball would have been alive, but not put into play. Umpire goof is always a good fallback.

Explain this baseball, which wasn’t explained to us in the stadium:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen something before that makes me think “soccer and hockey goalies have it easy”

Sing it, brother

One of the three, this year men’s sabre and women’s foil get rotated out. It’s as if staging another event for fencers, most of whom are already there, would be a major undertaking for the Olympics.

+1 username, btw

Fence in the square of your local Italian village, as god intended.

You’re doing god’s work for us freds

Great British Baking Show: great show, or greatest show ever?

Thirty years ago neither the NFL nor football in general was the massive juggernaut that it is now. A minor league wouldn’t need the entirety of the NFL’s normal audience to come out even; just think of everyone that pays attention to the league in the spring when literally nothing is happening. Eight more weeks of TV

otoh, if a guy needs two or three years to develop, without the minor league he’s probably not making the 53-man roster at all. Maybe the teams take a chance or two on a guy that looks promising enough, but that’s a lot of could-bes that never get a shot at all. With a minor league, they’ll at least get a chance to

1) Soccer: watch a few slow-motion replays of corner kicks or free kicks that focus on the pack. Focus on the pack, not the ball, and watch how much pushing and shoving goes into jockeying for position. A soccer player’ll be able to beat you up without looking like it.

General insurance against being sued is something you can get, and probably most things that have a decent shot at being sued get it. Think malpractice insurance, just more generally.

Well, at least you didn’t diss the bbq
