I don’t think she’s a charisma vacuum by any means, I just think they’re having trouble writing for her.  I think Feige and his team of increasingly vapid underlings don’t really get what’s great about this character and haven’t imparted any charisma for Larson to convey.

“I am confused at how the pinnacle of an actor’s career has ended up in that place,”

Did you hear that? It was the sound of my eyes rolling, which was so hard it must have been audible. Imagine creating this ranking and actually putting your name to it. The top 3 are pretty obvious (I’d accept any order, but generally agree that Goodfellas is #1), but after that, the list completely falls apart. Last

Disney’s inability to create *anything* interesting with their original series can only be considered a major failure and a persistent problem. They’re actively trying to make me not care about their properties anymore. It’s all so bland, and the finales lack any punch and don’t leave me craving the next season.

There *cannot* be any meaning to the order here.  There just can’t.

It’s obviously very hard to narrow down thousands of videos to just 50, but I will always have a special place in my heart for Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, and its omission from this list is glaring.  Great video, great song.  Sober by Tool also needs to be here.

Nothing will ever frustrate me more than Benioff and Weiss’s project getting shitcanned. I don’t know if it would have been good or bad, but my belief is that their urgency to end Game of Thrones so quickly derived from their desire to move on and work on their Star War.  It was the reason the final two seasons were

I read the headline as “Rebel Moon Trailer Lets Zack Snyder *LOSE* in Space” because that seemed like a much more appropriate title to me.

I thought for a while that an actor could only appear on the list once, but then saw Ryan Gosling twice and realized you guys just don’t know what you’re doing. There’s plenty of good choices here, but many egregious omissions.

This is a surprisingly solid list, given how poor you guys usually do on these. I have surprisingly few notes:

First, the film in no way glorifies or celebrates the catastrophic results of the bombings. In fact, it does the opposite by showing Oppenheimer’s (real) guilt over the death toll. It celebrates the scientific achievement, of course, but not the act itself.

This is the last hope for MCU TV.  So far, by my book, they’ve only hit on two shows: WandaVision and Loki S1.  Everything else has ranged from meh (F&WS, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel) to awful (Secret Invasion).  If they fuck this up, it will be the last MCU show I devote my time to.  I also think the drastic drop in quality

AVClub is usually really bad at these, but this one is pretty decent. I haven’t seen Oppenheimer yet, so I can’t comment on where it ranks, but I’d easily put The Dark Knight ahead of Inception.

The voters apparently have never heard of cannibalism. There’s so many categories with multiple nominations from the same series. While they all may be deserving, it will ultimately lead to vote splitting and alter the results. Perfect example is nominating both Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman for The Last of Us.

It’s kind of explained in canon. Some systems were under the control of people who were loyal to Palpatine, and others were either intimidated or brought to heel by military force. Some simply didn’t have the wherewithal to do anything.

I like the Rey character and am happy they’re giving Daisy Ridley the chance to potentially redeem the character.  That said, they killed the “series”. Why would they think we’d want “the next chapter” of it? Just start fresh, almost ignoring Episode 9 to the greatest extent feasible, other than the characters and

I’d be down for the standalone villain stories if...

Somehow, Gandalf survived.” - Aragorn, probably.

Sorry, but I’ll always have a soft spot for the 1989 Pet Sematary. I think it’s really well shot, super creepy, and Fred Gwynne is fantastic.
