So at this point, it’s pretty obvious (to me at least) that Jack Duquesne is not only not *the* bad guy; he’s not even *a* bad guy.  He’s a good guy.  Eleanor is quite clearly the bad guy and Jack is her patsy.  She is laundering the money through his company.  That explains the scene in episode 1 with Uncle Armand.

  • So what do you want to bet that the person whose secret identity is tied to that vintage Rolex is Clint’s wife Laura? Make Linda Cardellini a superhero, you cowards!!

FWIW, two reviewers who I enjoy and trust (not a part of this site, obviously), both of whom love the MCU, have both indicated that the unfavorable buzz around this film is justified.

This was a waste of a column.  The original Halloween makes this a totally unfair comparison.  That is a legitimately great and influential film, not just within the horror genre.  Additionally, if you were to rank all the films between the two franchises, Halloween would have 4 of the top 5 in my opinion.

Oh, I believe you. My wife’s brother-in-law is 36 and does not eat vegetables, seafood or “anything white”. Yes, that’s right. Anything white. White bread, white cheeses, ranch dressing, alfredo sauce, etc. He doesn’t know what plain vanilla ice cream tastes like. He won’t eat a slice of cake if the icing is white.

  • Phew, that chicky nuggies and buttered spaghetti joke was merciless! (In a good way.

She didn’t say intimidated, she said shocked.  Like, she couldn’t believe someone would actually talk to her in such a manner.  There’s no reason for it and it accomplishes nothing.

While I really enjoyed this slideshow, I’m obligated to comment that if this list were to be taken as definitive, we would be led to believe that the only advances in film special effects for the better part of 2 decades in the 70s and 80s occured exclusively in horror films.

Mario isn’t Italian. His depiction is an Italian stereotype, and our ears have been conditioned to assume he fits that stereotype, but there’s no such thing as Italy in the Mushroom Kingdom, which is his place of origin.

So are you saying we’re not getting a frame-by-frame breakdown of the trailer?

Fuck it, Dude.  Let’s go bowling.

There’s no way Disney will ever convince me that was Benicio Del Toro voicing The Collector.  Even if Del Toro were to personally proclaim it was him, I still won’t believe it.  I know his voice (his actual speaking voice, not the voices of Fred Fenster, Frankie Four Fingers, The Collector, or any of the other myriad

Wow. I don’t know where to start with this post. So I’ll sum up.

Christopher Nolan is so frickin’ polarizing, and I can’t decide which side to pick! His critics are such douchebags, but the people who kneel before his altar are incredibly silly. I say he’s a very good filmmaker, and- at a minimum- one of the last reliable creators of original film content (Dark Knight trilogy

Wow.  What a horrible month of releases.  I mean Back to the Future is a nice addition, but like any decent human being, I already own it.  This may be the weakest month I’ve seen since we started keeping track of these kinds of things.

Was coming to post the same thing. Saw it this weekend and thought it was really good, but not that special. The only thing really special about it is Phoenix. He completely carries the film. Not sure why Phillips gets a director nod or screenplay nod, as the whole film is buoyed by Phoenix to a degree I can’t

Well, a) it’s not your money, so I wouldn’t get too annoyed by it, and b) baseball players are signed based on past performance, and they signed him entering his age 31 season. The fact that you’re expecting a guy to continue being an all-star at 33 in this day in age is your problem, not his.

I’ve seen a lot of people call this response by the Astros “cowardly”. While I believe that cowardice is a trait of misogynists and abusers, to me, this act is now cowardly. This is downright aggressively abusive in and of itself. They are actively telling anybody who supports victims of domestic violence that they

Exactly. Osuna is just a spectator in this issue. Now, not only does the Astros organization look like an aggressively deceitful bastion of misogyny, but it brings Osuna’s trangressions back to the forefront. Now, I would never say that Osuna is a victim or that we should “move on” from what he did, but a person should
