You know, I didn’t even see the first video. I only saw the photo still and the many stories. The first video I saw was the unedited version, and I was like, um, how is this supposed to be painting them in a better light?

It makes me think of when MAGA-heads go to defend their kind and talk about, when one of their own is being held “accountable”, that their life is being “ruined”.

Of course, “Ruined” meaning, going back to a job that pays in the high 6 figures.

Want to take a long standing bet that one of them will end up as a Supreme Court Justice?

Yup. As soon as these shits started getting painted as victimized angels, I started shouting that they were assholes in MAGA hats bused in from a boys school to protest women’s reproductive rights. Even if the black men and the native protesters started shouting at them, they deserved it.

I read ‘caterer’ as ‘catheter’ and was quite confused for a moment there.

If that picture isn’t a perfect distillation of 400 plus years of white colonialism, I don’t know what is.

Black girls don’t get a tween stage, or even a YA one. They’re either little girls or potential sexual partners, nothing in between. Even when they’re twelve and only want to wear lip gloss and dance around with their friends.

Smh @ you literally finding another way to make yourself comfortable with the idea that black girls/women are responsible for people’s desire for them.

Caetano Veloso. It shattered me to find out.... :(

Yes, yes they did.

All the amens to Cottom. I’d also like to praise how good Between the Scenes clips are? I am so glad they are being posted, because Trevor and his [sometimes] guest have great conversations and make better points than his comedy writers script. He’s a great host who brings quite a bit of perspective, for a late night

Did you seriously just “all lives matter” this? Really?

It's awful for all girls, but it is flat-out horrific for black girls. A good friend of mine's daughter was sexually assaulted in school in FULL VIEW of the gym teacher, who did fuck-all. When she finally got free of her attacker and ran to the teacher for help, he blamed her for the incident. It's been years, and I

It is a pervasive problem for all girls, but it is an even more severe problem for black girls.

I think people also don’t want to closely examine an overall cultural phenomenon where teenage girls are sexual conquests to be had, coupled with rape culture (she went to his concert, she agreed to go back to his house, what was she expecting? etc) and the idea that women are expected to regulate men’s behavior, plus

The Ted Nugent thing caused a scandal. The Led Zeppelin stuff wasn’t widely reported. Neither was David Bowie’s story. Do you really think R. Kelly could get away with this if his victims were white? Do you think people would be quick to dismiss their stories? I seriously doubt it.

I think part of why she is so clear and powerful on this stuff is because it’s so personal. One of the stories in her book is about how she miscarried and lost a baby because people at the hospital didn’t believe her when she told them that she felt something was wrong and needed an exam. They made her sit in a

Very true. So many people were quick to dismiss his accusers and the girl from the rape tape as fast girls who went after Kelly. Even now people will say those girls wanted to be with him and should have known what they were getting themselves into. Can you imagine someone saying that about a 13 year old white girl? I

I think the sketch also alerted a lot of people who didn’t know about any of the fucked up shit R Kelly was into. I remember explaining to people that there was literally a video on the internet of R Kelly peeing on an underage girl with a Space Jam mural in the background.

I think that was a separate sketch, where Chappelle’s character on the witness stand told the prosecutor that he’d convict R. Kelly if he was on video pissing on the girl, showing his driver’s license, and with his grandma vouching on his identity while he’s pissing on the girl.
