That’s standard. There’s been huge MRSA outbreaks in high school wrestling, particularly in 2013, and MRSA has always been a problem in wrestling due to the nature of the sport. That doesn’t excuse the hair cutting and needless trauma this kid went through BTW. I just mean the gloves are always on. 

He had a previously sanctioned head covering, they made him remove it.

That’s about the only part that tracks. Health commissions don’t fuck around.

How this guy even still has job after calling a black official the N-word, apparently while poking his finger in the official’s chest, is beyond me. He used all the typical excuses too: ‘I didn’t really even remember saying it’ and ‘it just slipped out.’ If that word ‘just slips out’ then you’re fucking racist. 

Fuck that ref. That’s point one. But also, fuck Andrew Johnson’s team, coach, and school for not showing up for him. My mother wrote a check to her landscaper and she got a call from the bank when he tried to cash it. She gave them attitude over the phone (“yes, I wrote him that check for that amount, what is the problem?” in her icy code-switch voice) and they stumbled and apologized to HER, but I doubt they apologized to him.

Good for him. 

The check looked sketchy alright; it was in the hand of a Black man. 

“This Black mans pockets will become far too fat for Ohio’s standards if we let him cash this check ... you go call 911. I’m going to stand here and stare at the computer screen.”
