It's kind of neat that ISS is like the local mall parking lot, so mundane, so shoulder-shrug.

Well said.
This is exactly what was needed. Thank you.
I'll have to look at your post tonight. Right now the headline is all I can handle in the way of side-holding and tears down my face. :DDD
That's great. None of us knows everything. I always try to read all the replies because io9 has such informed commenters. And I pick up some really informative links.
Well I think that's very funny verging on adorable sciency irony. It belongs right up there with the photo of the frustrated octopus trying to mug Alvin.
Thank you for taking the time to reply; but, I was simply making a very small joke about bureaucratic thinking/language.
Thank you! In my literally decades of watching PBS including a program in the '60s about the invention, construction and launching of Alvin, after the narrator gives the official name everyone just says Woods Hole. In news stories reporters often say only Woods Hole. It is synonymous with the research.
Okay, here's another one of my sideways questions. Does anyone actually call Woods Hole by its acronym, WHOI, out loud..."hooey"?
FYI as I was reading this, an interview came on NPR with David Latt and others re Sharknado, The Asylum, their business. Video interview and more at Marketplace.org.
On NPR David Latt founder of The Asylum is interviewed on Marketplace (video w/Latt and others at Marketplace.org). Covers Sharknado and their studio, et al.
Other conditions...leading to spread of disease? —- To be determined. I hope it's not too soon to LOL at that answer.
Is it true that Newfoundland is free of Colony Collapse Syndrome? Are there any other known locations without problems? If so, are they all in somewhat self-contained agri-systems, that is, they don't commercially lease or rent hives from other areas?
Reading this I ended up with a big smile and a lot of wiki and googling for the weekend.
July 19, 1969, a Saturday, I got married. On Sunday we watched the landing sitting on the edge of a bed in a Lake Tahoe hotel along with the hotel's plumber. The President announced that Monday would be a national holiday so we had a two day honeymoon.
"Jubbly bits" is my new favorite euphemism. (spell check insists on turning it into "Hubble") All's fair in sex and SF.
Yay! It is good to be getting back to the days or exceeding when all this space activity is the norm. Gets people (the powers that be) used to it and maybe ready to take another big step. Also more countries and private companies involved is better even if nationalism can be an incentive.
Well played.
One can never have too much Mt. Washington O.
