It was light sarcasm. The Catholic Church has had so many scandals that the only thing keeping it afloat is the religion. Which they aren't focusing on, instead forcing themselves into people's sex lives (glass houses and all that) and otherwise trying to prevent justice.

So the catholic church is more interested in politics than religion. Not surprising.
