This is one aspect that I’m starting to hate about EVs. Everything now makes crazy amounts of power, and honestly the average driver has no business being near that kind of performance capability.

I am with you.  I refuse to get the insurance nannies.  I drive a 600+ HP car and I don’t need my rates going up everytime I accelerate or go to the strip.

You make a good point. 100% throttle in a NA 4 cylinder (or even 3 cylinder these days) is not the same as 100% throttle in a Hellcat.

Despite no tickets nor accidents in over 20 years I opt to pay a bit more for insurance and skip the safe driving apps and plug-ins. Living in urban areas I would likely trigger events constantly, much like the gentleman above no speed issues but plenty of sudden stops usually due to other drivers and oblivious

If GM can GM then GM will GM. If they can screw up they will.

This angers me to no end. It’s an invasion of privacy. Also, my real beef is this: What constitutes a hard acceleration or hard braking? Would the insurance company rather I didn’t use the braking capabilites designed into my car and simply smash into another vehical?

Sounds like they were looking to get their guns off that day, and disappointed the driver didn’t make even the most subtle move to let them.

The report caught the attention of the Orange County Auto Theft Task Force, which traced the vehicle to Rodgers’ home in Costa Mesa and had it under surveillance all morning.”

And a dozen cops for a single stolen car ?

I hope Rogers gets a huge win in that lawsuit and a precedent is set for other dealers to do a better job.

Yeah, you never wanna hear a controller use that type of panicked tone of voice when talking to you. Usually when they do that, it is already too late. Glad everyone was okay on this.

I’m old enough to remember when Hyundai hit these shores with the $4995 Excel and everyone laughed. Stunning how far they’ve come.

These are mostly generic 15 year old car fixes. That’s about when all the rubber bits in the engine bay and suspension start degrading. It’s just that people driving around 2009 Altimas DGAF about the squeaks, rattles, tramlining, etc that this stuff causes.

The E31 8 Series.

Over 10-year-old Audi with north of 100k miles? Bold!

Any vehicle produced under British Leyland. Jaguar, MG, Land Rover, Austin Healey. or just any vehicle that relies on Lucas electricals.

... or AC.

Soooooo close to being a NP, but no. It’s a super example of a car most of us have forgotten, but I just don’t think it’d be a fun car to own and drive without a stick shift.

Now we know what was in Hilary’s emails.

It’s not even remotely beyond hope. MANY cars have been restored from much, much, much less. The problem is that after you spend a quarter million dollars plus on it, it will only be worth $75K. It’s an economic problem, not a technical one.
