I thought Donald Trump famously didn’t drink alcohol. What else could be in that glass except red wine? I suppose he could be using it as a prop, but he certainly looks “tired and emotional,” as the Brits would say, in that photo.
They were only closeted around other white people. Trump didn’t usher in the “new” anything, he just made it acceptable to be racist in polite society again (i.e. what “Make America Great Again” really meant, a dog whistle his fans certainly heard.) But this isn’t “new” for us, they never stopped treating us this way.

It’s obviously not going to pass, Ryan will never allow it to set foot on the floor of the house. It is however a statement of intent from future presidential nominees who are looking to build their issues profile so Democrats can get an idea of what they stand for.
