Yknow what! If I could pay $5 per month, I’d reinstall FFIX, which was my first MMO and some of my fondest online memories were made there. I need to get the latest xpac and would go through the pain of reinstallation and setting up a joypad to play it for $5 per month.

Still getting through Sekiro. The worst boss I am facing is the dreaded Fiancee boss. She monopolizes my time, drains my stamina and nags me to death all at the same time.

If it was one thing that all of the Souls games have taught me is persistence will beat resistance. Keep trying and never give up! I started off with Demons Souls, it was truly a painful experience, but one of the most rewarding once I “got it.”

Hey Nathan, great write up on Outward. I’ve had that game on my watch list. I have tried many open world fantasy games, looking for that perfect mix of difficulty and survival tactics. I played Kingdom Come, DayZ (early DayZ), RUST and even Mabinogi. The closest I came to what you just described in Outward is a

Tell them all to gitgud! I am a veteran too. While there are adjustments that we have to make to combat, there are a lot of drawbacks that we don’t have to deal with also. Very good write up and comparison of the other games in the ‘Souls franchise. I do have to differ on the defensive play style aspect. We (the Souls community) called it turtling, which is essentially hiding behind a shield. That was a style that afforded a specific type of armor, weapons and build. If you look at

I know of the Happy Hob(bit). Nice guy who puts up a good stream. Truly a champion in the ‘Souls arena. You can appreciate his approach to the series and watching his streams really can help you a lot with combat and your DPS. I stopped watching HH a while back, but I would have liked to see how he navigated chalice

I was going to stop reading when you said you skipped the Souls series, but I am glad I didn’t. Great take from someone who isn’t holding it up to the “Souls” standards. That is the same problem that Square has with their Final Fantasy series. Everyone compares the current gen release to their beloved XXX of 12 years
