If coach only would have started me we would have won state...

I’ll be interested to see where she goes. Everyone in the comments whining about “nobody really wanted to beat this world record” and “I bet I could’ve done this” sure sound a lot like that one kid on the playground who always threatened to beat you up with his karate moves... only he “didn’t feel like it today”.

any feat not accomplished by a white male is barf-level tokenism” is certainly a viewpoint...

Agreed, she must be one of those rare people who can tell to within a fraction of an inch where the tire/body of the car on the opposite side of the driver is in relation to the cones, which no doubt contributed to the record. And likely due to honing her skills in karts. Good on her, and best of luck in the future.

Difficult tasks often look effortless, when they’re perfectly executed. There’s an elegant economy of motion here, every weave executed exactly the same as the last.

Jesus Christ let her have her moment.

I feel like they’re setting a terrible example putting her in a fire suit but NOT in a helmet, I mean wtf.

They did this of their own accord, without someone forcing them to do so?

So you’re telling me that the White House is dropping Goodyear and going for Continental, because “heritage”?

I stopped reading and just stared at the wall for several minutes, with this sentence rolling around in my head and chest.

Lol, I believe you.  Sometimes I run into handles that look familiar from other websites.  I get curious if we’re old internet pals from a different lifetime.  Not this time.

Again, how is a $10 an hour job better than nothing? Real world, that $10 an hour wage will support you, alone, just barely. If you have kids, no, you don’t have enough money at $400 per week before taxes or healthcare deductions to make it work. When rent or housing costs are more than 33% of your take home pay, you

They tried that back in 1865. Didn’t work out so well for them.

Really, so a German humanities degree has the reputation of being cheap at German universities because of the lucrative ... checks notes ... German book-publishing industry?

Or, like every other fucking first world country, make higher educated free or extremely affordable. Theres no reason a basic 4 year degree should cost nearly as much as I paid for my house. And you still have to apply for student loans. You know what happens when you are lower income and even have good credit? They

never saw that one, I will have to check it out!

Well that was eventful. It’s probably an understatement to suggest that Viñales has had a freakish run of luck for the last week...

I was actually wondering about that.  I know virtually nothing about Haas as a business, but if they can take a tax write off and have a little fun while doing it, that sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Currently updating tooling drawings with Code Orange blasting on the headphones as we speak. We’re allowed to have music out loud at our desks as long as it’s not disruptive; I’ve just assumed my colleagues will not agree with my choice of music to listen to in the office.

The only reason she’s not on the list is her designation code; it’s not a USS vessel. Official designation for her is “Enterprise OV-101" as she never got put into active service as you said.

She deserves mention, yes, even though she was never handed a “USS” designation.
