For sure, the monthly fee definitely detracts from its attractiveness. I bought Guild Wars 2 day one with no issue doing it because I knew I wouldn't be paying a monthly fee and I will almost certainly get a ton of hours out of it, even if it's not as much as some people.

Oh, it's got tons of charm. And my friends have all been having a blast with it, I've never seen so many in-game screenshots on my Facebook feed, much less for a 3DS title.
