Yes, if the album is in cd quality, that is going to be the highest version you can get. And getting the cd and ripping it is fine. There are places that sell 24 bit downloads, i.e. hdtracks, but you have to make sure the source is 24 bits to start. That upconverting BS is lame.

with what you are doing you could used any Mac, you could even used an iPad Pro, even tho that isn’t a full os, iOS 11 has made it really nice and usable. IMO I would avoid the air because it isn’t 1080p for Netflix. I would buy the cheapest MacBook Pro or apple refurb unit. Overkill, but you will get years out of it.…

My current windows machine is a surface pro 4 and I never used the touchscreen. Touchscreens on a pc is so overrated. But I love using GoodNotes and the Apple Pencil on my iPad Pro.
