it’s funny how much snyder tried to graft dkr into bvs. there were so many shots that were clearly using it as storyboards.

This is worse to me. Say what you will about the tenets of national socialism, at least it’s an ethos.

Yes, they’re in a bit of lull, but you’d be crazy to ignore their massive, massive sucesses.

“We weren’t trying to make an Avengers movie. We weren’t.”

“apparently a really nice guy who everyone likes working with.”

Ortega was co-lead of the last two movies, which were big hits. She’s a household name among the target demo (gen zs who go to the cinema). Judging by the box office of the last one, they don’t care much about Campbell being missing, but I think the studio are underestimating how much of a draw Wednesday Adams is.

Based on this I’d imagine Barrera wasn’t fired for her comments, and that was just a smokescreen for scrapping this iteration of Scream because of the loss of Ortega. And I’d imagine Barrera was probably asking for more since she’d now be the sole lead, and they jumped on her posts to pretend it wasn’t because of the

The biggest star who ever appeared in these movies was killed in the franchise’s very first scene.  I’m not convinced people go to these movies because of the cast.

This seems like an example of everyone being reasonable, and just not being able to come to an agreement. Ortega’s a rising big star, and she’s right to request a high salary, particularly if doing another Scream movie would mean turning down work where she would receive this kind of pay.

Answer: His stunt team. Apparently, they got a lot of usage for WB movies. And since it’s easier to keep hiring the same people over and over, Snyder keeps his parking space.

I think the answer is that 1) his movies typically make good enough money, and 2) he’s apparently a really nice guy who everyone likes working with. In the calculus of Hollywood, whether your movies are actually any good by any reasonable critical metric is irrelevant.

if we’re really getting hypothetical i’d happily trade him doing dkr over watchmen, which to me is about 10x more sacred.

We already Scream without any of the legacy characters. It was on MTV and it sucked.

Scream isn’t Scream because it’s a slasher flick. It’s Scream because of the specific characters and their legacy that they bring. The time to make Scream without the characters was Scream 2. The series went with mythology and

I truly don’t understand how Snyder keeps getting work, or how he’s amassed such a following.

His runtimes are out of control. His characters are unlikable. His plots are incoherent, often requiring several director’s cuts to even start making sense of them. He can’t manage a budget. He’s clearly more interested in the

Of his stuff, I genuinely love his Dawn of the Dead remake, and enjoy Watchmen. But DotD demonstrates that he needs a capable writer (James Gunn in that case), and Watchmen shows how his literalism in transferring comic panels to the screen cuts both ways.

Quite the apt description. I’ve always said that his movies work visually when he’s literally ripping panels directly from the graphic novels he uses, but he’s probably never read a word.

they should have just let snyder do dark knight returns as a one-off 10 years ago.

And only the cover art and splash pages of Frank Miller tpbs (plus Watchmen).

The best most accurate description of Snyder and his approach to comic book movies I ever read was that he’s one of those guys that only looks at the art on the covers and splash pages and never reads the actual text.

This proves that the biggest misstep in their whole plan was hiring Snyder. The guy loves grimdark too much to consider doing anything else.
