LeBron James is really just starting to get insufferable isn’t he. Yeah he’s good at the bouncing sports ball but does anyone want to see him in movies?

The OG movie worked because it was two “teens” trying to throw a house party.  This is 2 grown ass men, on with a family, who are party promoters throwing a ummm party.

I would argue his defining role is Maui. It’s a genuinely good movie, his performance is good, and I can name two traits about the character without one of them being “played by the Rock”, which puts him ahead of the long string of identical roles Johnson's played for most of his career.

Yep. I actually don’t like him in the F&F movies because it’s too much of the movie stopping dead for DWAYNE “THE ROCK” JOHNSON. I re-watched his Walking Tall remake not too long ago (it’s, like, 90 minutes! What a treat!) and in addition to having an almost normal-sized neck, he actually gets his ass kicked, which

Shit I just realized I typed worst to best and I meant best to worst.

Yeah, I think Johnson has too much control of his movies, honestly, often working with the same mediocre crew of people who cater to his desire to stick to a carefully-managed public persona. He’s never going to really reach his potential, IMO, until he puts himself in the hands of Directors and Writers with more

You know you can just not watch them, right?

Arguably the character of “the Rock” is his iconic character.

What I like about unobtainium is that it sounds exactly like what some VP of Marketing would name a substance of inexpressible value.

Yeah, rings of Venom without Spider-man.

I don’t get why they want Superman slumming it fighting Black Adam - he’s not even Shazam’s most interesting villain. I don’t know anyone who wants this other than Dwayne “The Vin Deisel” Johnson.

And I guess the Superman vs. Black Adam movie is happening.

I think the trick with the other guys on your list is that they got their iconic role/s early in their careers, before they became “Action Superstar Guy”. The Schwarzenegger of the 90s wouldn’t have taken the role of a straight-up villain in the original Terminator. Stallone had to write a custom role for himself, and

I can’t say I’m surprised--the trailers were a mess. Also, I’m disappointed that after years of Johnson playing up the villain/anti-hero angle and how refreshing that will be, it comes down to yet another superhero committing to the “don’t kill” ethos. It can be done well, but it’s just so boring at this point.

They even cut out a stinger from Shazam referencing Black Adam at the last minute.

The filmmakers seemingly try to go the T2 route with the anti-hero, giving him an arc similar to Arnold’s T-800 in terms of both having to learn to appreciate the value of human life despite possessing abilities that can quickly extinguish it.”

I was really only interested in seeing this because it’s technically a spinoff of Shazam (one of DC’s best films ever) but from the ads and reviews it looks like the movie ignores this connection completely. That feels like a mistake to me. Hell, the whole point of Black Adam initially was that he was Shazam’s

That is not true.

Imo D reviews don’t pay lip service to a “really good movie” hiding in the clutter — that’s a C line if I’ve ever heard one.

It is just what he is called.
