Yes he was.
Yes he was.
You’ve finally cracked the Superman/Batman team up concept!
That would be the perfect way to restart Superman, the start of all-star Superman as we all know his origin already.
To be fair, Clayface from Batman the Animated Series is such a sad wonderful story.
Yeah you’re right, this is one of the times where that doesn’t much matter though.
No you’re right, Superman has a weakness to magic, but the fact remains, even if he didn’t Johnson has “can’t lose fight” built into his contracts.
iirc Black Adam beats the hell out of Superman in the DCAU because Supes is weak to magic.
We both know the only proper take on the character was when he had inexplicable electricity powers. I’d also accept the brief period when he could shoot tiny clones of himself out of his hand.
What’s “proper” for a character that’s over 80 years old? Is it a Superman that destroys the car of a wife beater and fights for the oppressed? One that’s a propaganda machine for the U.S. during WWII? A right-wing Reaganite? Sporting a mullet? A Superman that laments that he’s the only one of his kind and questions…
Or Black Adam gets punched into the center of the earth, and then flies back out at top speed holding up his contract. ‘As you can see, Superman... I WIN!’ he roars at the top of his big strong guy voice.
This really made me laugh because now I’m imagining a scene like Black Adam and Superman have a proper drawn-out fight, which basically ends in a stalemate but with Superman saying something like “Wow, those muscles aren’t just for show!”
“Clayface you may know from Batman: The Animated Series” the extremely popular Harley Quinn cartoon series that’s airing in the present day Christ why does it feel like nobody at the AVClub has any sense of the media landscape any more?
I want Emily VanDerWerff/St. James back. And TV Club Classic. And just... something…
I have zero interest in watching a contractually unable to lose Dwayne Johnson fight Super-Man.
You’ve figured it out: it’s a Braniac movie where he takes a job at the IRS while waiting for Superman to let down his guard.
Does it have the red trunks? It looks wrong without the trunks - and the red and yellow breaks up the all blue of the rest of the costume.
“...addition movies.” Like, DC characters doing arithmetic? I would watch and an angle the MCU has ignored so far: educational films.
It looks good when they shoot it in closeup, but the wispy silver lines around the waist will never look right to me. When you see him in full without some red to break up all that blue he just looks kind of goofy. Hell, I’ll take Tyler Hoechlin’s suit on Superman & Lois over anything Cavill has worn so far.
Huh, I was just thinking I sick of seeing these costumes made out of rubber floor mats. I guess it’s a step up from spandex, though.
