You’re right about the length, I read the announcements back in the day and they planned to use the longer wheelbase they sold in China and used for the skoda superb.
It's incredible how the car completely changed by making it lower and longer. The mechanical bits are almost 100% identical, and yet this is as happy in a corner as a car can be, while the smart totally isn't. I like both of them though.
I've seen one in Berlin just recently and I told my girlfriend about what a weird car it is. I think the rarest car I've seen is a jaguar xj220.
It was more powerful then VWs 6 cylinder engines, the regular V6 in the Passat just had about 190 horsepower, even the r32 golf engine had just over 240 compared to 275 in the W8. The W8 was also longer with a longer wheelbase then the normal Passat. It could have been worth the premium over a normal Passat. But there…
I'm not trying to convince you. I totally see how a pick up can be practical as well. I don't need either, and both would be rather impractical for me as a daily driver.
They do all of this here in Europe with these things. Except maybe hauling 4-wheelers. Most bike and quad shops have either one of those or a VW flatbed with the same dimensions. And you can usually hose the interior in case you bought the empty box.
American cows eat pick up trucks?
I'm commenting this all over here, but in Europe they would sell both a diesel and at least earlier versions had the 4motion system as option.
In Europe they sell 4motion and slightly raised suspension as a factory option. It's not a heavy off-roader, it's marketed as bad ways package (the lift).
In Europe they do, and I'm really sure that in both the V and Vito version the diesel outsell the petrol variants by far.
Here in Europe they also sell several Diesel engines and I’ve seen some with raised suspension and 4motion, I think it’s a factory option. So off-roading and even better mpg figures could be in the books.
Maybe the system should deploy the airbags anyway to show them their fault.
In a non-traffic environment my parents were amazed to find the opposite actually. They went to a couple of rock concerts, one of which was the dropkick murphys in a club in Las Vegas that had pools and stuff, not one guy threw his bottle or plastic cup on the floor or into a pool. People waited in line until it's…
Maybe they sorted everything out and don't need to do actual police work anymore.
You aren’t in full mechanical control over the vehicle, which is what many people claim to do when speaking about their manual transmission cars. Every bit of the convenience gizmos cars have these days was a step towards the self driving cars we might see approaching within a few years time. Some have a direct…
Buy a new car for less then one of this garbage piles and every bit of electronic you'll need to make it run!
Some time ago I read that you void the Buggati’s warranty if you exceed 230mph or so. For me that disqualifies for the record. And the Henessey isn't really a production car in my eyes. But I'm aware about those :) I didn't think about the na thing though, that's true anyway.
It's still the fastest production road car, isn't it?
A manual transmission in one of these would be awesome. I'd be ok if it had a mode to manually mash the throttle and pop the clutch at the lights just for the heck of it.
