One of my favorite surprises ever: I was taking a photo of my friend outside our office a couple years ago and when I looked at it, I saw someone was in the background taking a picture of his own. I didn’t realize until later when he walked past us that it was Bill Cunningham (pic here, cropped and blurred in case my

I think you are using this article as a jumping off point for a personal pet peeve. The article just talked about how difficult it was the coordinate the “Time’s up” looks. Symbolism is a powerful means for communication. It’s not the only tool, but it is a tool for moving the conversation forward.

I waited tables through college and grad school, and I tip because it is the shittiest job in the entire universe:

I thought the same thing after watching that behind-the-scenes special on Netflix, but apparently that was misleading. Have you read the Indiewire interview with Sadie Sink? I’ll quote the relevant passage:

It’s pretty common escalator/moving walkway courtesy to “stand right, walk left.” There are even signs in a lot of public transit hubs. But people ignore them and stand left. Those people are assholes!

Wouldn’t you have more stability standing on the side and holding the rail than you would in the middle of it? Stand on the right, walk on the left. It’s easy! We’re a sort of civilized society, we can handle this!

Why do you have to be a dick? Your readers had a legit bone to pick with you all just disappearing while other women had to finish out their day.

Cosplay communities essentially have a lot of straight women convincingly dressing as male characters. In part, this is because a lot of Asian male characters have pretty feminine characteristics by American standards, but even masculine male characters can get played by women with results that I personally find a lot

I personally do not under value lesbians in society, but I just don’t find their drag as interesting to look at. In the end, drag is a show - and if its something that isn’t visually or emotionally captivating to me I am going to zone out or not go.

You’re right. I think what makes drag queens more captivating is that hyper-femininity comes with lots of ornamentation, whereas what is hyper-masculinity? Aggression and musculature? Violence? I mean, that’s a tough act to make palatable.

Nah, I just live for feminist tears.

Or that, you know, being cleared of a crime means you should be treated as innocent.

Clint gets a lot of shit on here, but there are better targets. His films have an anti-racist slant. He has almost always paired himself with a nonwhite partner, dating back to before that was common or expected, and in the films in which his character is a bigot, something happens that forces him to grow out of it.

Don’t know the age of this voter quoted in THR, but yikes.

Yo, Aimee, Derren Brown has done loads of documentaries debunking pseudoscience and supposed miracles. He makes no pretence that what he does is magical or gifted. But he does do what he does, and regularly tours live.

I watched it live. My entire family cringed with horror. The problem is that Fergie can never just sing a song. She always has to inject it with strange inflections, a growly sexy baby voice, or weird vocal gymnastics. Did you see how she walked up to the mic?!!!

For my two cents, I totally give JJ the benefit of the doubt. He’s never had anything like this happen before, and he seems like a genuinely chill dude.

I do however have a problem, and full disclosure I am a Chinese-American man. A lot of people here seem to think it’s an impossibility that someone would be racist

Zzzzzzzzzzzz...
