Embarassment? My 18 year old self would have been proud, at least to my friends. Think about it. Iron-clad validation to all his friends who wouldn’t have believed that he went 146 in his Neon! I basically never believed my friends at that age on their speed claims. The PD just did this kid a favor. Also, they did

That’s good... I think. No doubt it’s not the same one, but I had to check. Because I always thought, wow that car is going to look good on paper but have all kinds of potential residual issues from sitting for so long.

Just curious about that Mazdaspeed3. Where did you buy that from? I know of a dark gray one that sat for a long time unused. Which would give it nice, low mileage on paper, but it sat outside which could very well cause rust on the underside but not on the body so much. I mean, it’s not like these are rare, but...

I highly recommend it. What better way to enjoy the things that would otherwise be chores? I have no interest in a shiny, restored-to-perfection old truck. I don’t want a rust bucket either, but it has to be able to take some dings and scratches from regular truck duties.

Thanks! It belonged to the fire dept. until 2015; I’m the first private owner.

I loved reading this. I clearly did miss the window for getting an “older” 911. I did look about 10 years ago, but not seriously enough, and I was too distracted with boats at the time. Now, by the time my two young kids are out of college, these things will be another 20 years older, so who the the hell knows where

The thing is, Tavarish said that no one would do it, and that the winner shouldn’t “be that guy” who tries to crowdfund the project. But he’s not doing that, he’s got a plan and a budget and money set aside. I don’t think it’s against the spirit of the contest or whatever to offer it without being asked. He can always

I think we should do this anyway. This noble fool has already spent money out of pocket and I suspect everyone will benefit if his budget can be supplemented by those who are getting all the entertainment out of it.

enough time for our video production team will cut my stammering

10/10 would strap my kids carseats into this and my drop-off/pick-up routine just got 100% better. Put some sippy cups in the cooler, done. And they couldn’t even reach my seat back to kick it! They would love it back there....

When I worked at a marina, I had a somewhat-elderly customer whose husband passed away. One day she mentioned she was looking to get rid of his car, an old Mazda he loved, but she was not interested in driving. He took great care of it, I’m sure. “RX-something, I think...” she says.

True, but my sister lived in Stateline (south Lake Tahoe) in 2001-2002, and we visited to ski and also went to Reno, etc. - even then it was hard to justify the trip to Reno considering what there was locally, and now I hear South Lake is even more built up. For better or for worse, it probably means less reason to go

I’m used to riding up hiking trails in the woods that are not really made for biking, and are extremely technical in addition to being steep at times. So pretty much any paved road is like, okay select low gear and pedal. You can go as fast or as slow as your lungs and legs will take you, and otherwise it’s mindless.

Riding over Teton Pass in Wyoming - on my mountain bike, mind you - I obviously worked hard all the way up. But on the way down, with no effort at all (my gearing wouldn’t let me pedal anyway) I was going 50mph right along with “traffic.” Not a single car passed me on the way down because most cars have to worry about

Crack. Pipe. And then some. On top of an asking price that would get you a full-on regular RV, like, new with a warranty or lightly used... the A/C just needs a recharge? LOL.

Not exactly, my kids’ birthdays are right around now, so there’s leftover cake on my house... so I brought some to work.

I’m reading this comment and literally eating cake at my desk. Sorry, not sorry.

I was wondering too, what kind of person destroys their kids’ car... without realizing that now, the kids are without a car and surely the kids don’t have their own money to go and get another one??? So... who do you think is footing the bill for a new ride, Angry Dad? How long are you going to deny them a car, and

I’d say it’s like calling an SUV a “truck.” Yeah, some of the qualities are the same, but that’s a skid steer.
