First of all, this is very, very cool. Like, amazing.

I don’t know, that trunk release sounds better than the CLA 250 I rented this past weekend. You can release it from the outside, of course. But the angle you need to have your hand, and the pressure required to activate the switch, combined with the “enthusiasm” of the springs, cause the trunk lid to miss your face by

Amazing how he puts it in REVERSE long after it’s clearly floating around, sideways, bobbing, etc. Yeah, I’ll just reverse out of here... nope

I will only sell my 1972 Ford F100 to someone who I am sure will take good care of it. In fact, the previous owner said the same thing, and he might be the one who buys it from me.

Wow, I’ve been there... or almost there. My 1989 ski boat is powered by a 351 Ford. It had a piston knocking around in one cylinder which triggered me to rebuild the whole thing - using a machine shop for the major, sensitive internal stuff - and late one night after getting the engine all redressed, it wouldn’t

I drove Hondas through high school and college, and wondered at the time why I never saw old Hondas restored. I guessed (mostly correctly) that most people just drove them into the ground. Partly, though, I think they just hadn’t been around long enough yet. The attachment I formed to these cars at that stage in my

A friend of mine in college used to drive his GMC Jimmy everywhere in 4-low because he could beat ANYONE off the line at a stoplight. I bet you can guess, he blew it up after a short while of doing that. I only learned about it after the fact and was just... dumbfounded.

So, Seinfeld must have bought one of them?

Can’t believe you missed an opportunity to reference the Broodwich!

An actual good description on eBay, minus the “gingerly driven” comment. Really, no one who is doing all those stated mods to the car is realistically driving it “gingerly” but otherwise, it looks like a genuinely well-cared-for car. For $6k I’d be all over NP. At $8,400? Nice car, but maybe 25% too high.

We used to ski behind my car all the time in college. In upstate NY there are a lot of seldom-traveled back roads with snowy fields on either side. Driveways become gap jumps, which at 25 mph or so is pretty easy actually. I kept a waterski rope in my car just for this purpose.

“We’ve got a Hyundai Elantra GT that just came in!”

I’m quite certain my next car will be no newer than 2005. Currently in ‘03. My wife’s ‘07 is too far in the integrated direction. My ‘03 at least still had a trunk-mounted CD changer as an option, which makes plugging in aftermarket things super easy. I have bluetooth phone and music thanks to a simple adapter. My

True! My wife’s ‘05 Volvo did not have what I’d call an “infotainment center” but the same screen controlled the HVAC and stereo, exactly as you describe.

Actually, a lot of newer cars don’t have a “head unit” that can just be replaced, without losing some other essential function like HVAC. Welcome to the wonderful world of infotainment.

Why does the last picture exclude several generations (in particular, the most recent V70) of wagons?

Wow, I want a manual V70R. But I think this one is CP for being too LOW. I mean, I’d rather have one that’s clearly been cared for, and spend a bit more. The one we had a few weeks ago for around $8k would be my cup of tea.

I’m telling you, get over to Team O’Neil while you’re up in that area of New England. All kinds of closed snowy roads. And a bunch of lunatic rally drivers to “help” you.

You took the Hummer to a racetrack. Now you need to take the Aston to Team O’Neil Rally School. It’s over in Dalton, NH about 90 minutes from Burlington, mostly east and a bit south (I know kind of the wrong direction but at least it’s not north). I have no doubt in my mind that they would welcome you with open arms.

Oh yes, $60k? I’d go and buy 3 of the nicest V70R 6-speeds that I could find. And I’d probably have $20k leftover for the inevitable repairs.
