There are studies iirc that show how far you are willing to go out of your way to help someone that show, within families, the extent you are willing to help correlates with the amount of DNA you share with them.

But it gets more clicks if you frame it this way.

This does have the potential to be helpful and if the company is a progressive one that cares about the well-being of its employees, I can see this as a boon. If the company is a cynical, heartless one it could provide it with a reason for, but not legal justification for, termination.

Never underestimate provincial pride. My county (UK here) had a war with the neighbouring county half a millennia ago and both sides still hold an only semi-friendly grudge over it.

Since you are unable to see any redeeming quality in the man, or even accept it was possible he had any, can I ask you why you think an extremely intelligent woman, who butted heads with him very often and was ideologically opposed to more or less his every stance wrote this?

I thought it was the free bar that did that. It’s a notoriously boozy affair.

He wasn’t a monster, he was a person. By demonising people you only set your cause back further. Rather than dismissing people’s motives and drives as being because they are inherently bad/evil/monstrous you learn more by seeking ot find out why they were that way.
