That second survey you linked did not have a sample of 400 identified Native Americans. It had a sample of 400 people. It had a sample of 98 Native Americans as best I can tell from the reported n-sizes.

You are correct. At this stage, we cannot know whether this year is worse than past years (the season is still on going). That said, there is evidence that injuries are (generally speaking) more prevalent now than in the past. In particular, over the last three seasons relative to the prior decade.
