I actually had something similar happen to me recently. I can’t remember how I heard about doing secret shopping to make extra cash. But I was like, sounds easy. I specifically requested to do Target when I filled out the information.

These days if you call the FBI it just rings and rings.

This is a more sophisticated version of this scam. I’ve never heard of them doing it person. That’s dangerous as hell.

There are studies that show as we get older, you have a harder time telling fact from fiction. That’s why elderly people are targeted much more in(and are victims of) scams. Something in the brain changes and they are more liable to believe lies as facts. One reason Donald Trump is now president.

Say what you will, but my complete mistrust and general skepticism of all humankind keeps me from believing anything that anyone tells that involves handing over my money or personal belongings for any amount of time.

scammers like these often target immigrants who don’t or can’t use banks. for her whole working life in the US this woman has had to operate through cash-based channels because she was never able to open an account anyplace, so a story like the one the scammer concocted would ring true with her own experiences. if…

Bad news - many folks are stupid and gullible. They are born, live and die that way. Nothing you or anyone else can do can mitigate that handicap.
