I remain doggedly cynical for three reasons:

1. There’s absolutely no reason to expect that Hollywood as a whole would change their power structure, which extraordinarily rewards a select elite over everyone else. That is the fundamental reason that these sociopaths have the power to treat everyone else like garbage,

I agree that VOD purgatory seems like a fitting punishment. However, that seems like a disservice to all the non-rapey movie producers/directors/etc. whose only crime was mediocrity. What if we just let a really shitty editing staff re-cut the movie? Are the guys responsible for Suicide Squad free?

I would be far more comfortable with the idea that once you’re outed as a sociopathic asshole that’s it, no redemption. That’s the reality that the rest of us have to deal with in the internet age. That celebrities should get such an opportunity while the rest of us don’t is utter bullshit.

Is his career over though? Maybe I’m missing something, but it seems that celebrities have just about always had endless opportunities at redemption.

That struck me as well. It’s not unlike Trump’s “when you’re a celebrity they let you do it” statement. What’s unsettling about it is that he acts like he somehow just arrived at the idea that it was his power over these women that let him get away with being a pervert (as if he previously must have just assumed the

I’m going to go out on a limb here, but could it be that the celebrities that the entertainment industry chooses to punish has more to do with financial calculation than actual concern for justice or victim’s rights? While there’s no doubt white people in general are held to lighter standards than everyone else,

I think part of what’s jarring about all of this, in Louis C.K.’s case anyway, is that you could easily be forgiven for thinking he had some level of empathy for women. His work often pointed out the kind of shit that women have to deal with and explored the fucked up dynamics of creepy, middle-aged man-children and

The contribution of the others involved in the movie, who are presumably innocent of all of this, is the only valid excuse I could see for going forward with the release. It is a trade-off. Is it worth punishing Louis in exchange for possibly hurting the other actors/crewmembers who won’t get exposure for their roles?

It’s a fucking movie... he didn’t come up with a new cancer treatment or something. I’m sure we’ll all get along just fine without another slow-pace indie film that explores awkward social moments and alienation or some-such garbage. Just take it as a personal sacrifice of yours that you didn’t get to experience this

I think that is part of it, but also that rich white liberals feel they have no other choice but to punish their own, lest they risk loosing the last institutions they still control. From that perspective, it’s easy to see all of this for what it is: token outrage without any real interest in changing a system that

How do we know Mr. Spacey wasn’t simply practicing a little method acting for a secret William F. Buckley biopic or something?

And your point?
