I agree, a better comic could take the subject matter and actually say something funny and interesting. In the Carlin doc he does a pretty extensive bit about how any topic can be funny. It’s not that the topic is off limits but you can only cross that line if it’s funny. Neither of these guys has an interesting take…
Nailed it in one. Dress for the job you want.
I really liked JGL in Brick. I’d recommend people go watch Brick.
I guess that’s cool, although I assume the general public have never seen the negatives before, so showing before-and-after to us doesn’t really mean much. Any “before” we’ve actually watched looked pretty decent.
These “after-and-before” images only make sense if the video they restored was an old AVI file at 360p resolution or something.
Times were different then. A mere 17 years had passed since Jill Sobule scored a minor cancellation for the song “I Kissed a Girl,” and 4 years since Katy Perry’s completely different song called “I Kissed a Girl” hit #1 on the cancellation charts.
Do you recall which season and episode? I would really like to hear that. Also; do the DVDs feature alot of creative’s commentary? It’s worth the price just to have those.
The Pentaverate will be the actor’s first return to the silver screen since appearing in 2018's Bohemian Rhapsody
Maybe being a teenager when Nevermind came out biases me, but IMO nothing on that record could be considered a “deep cut”. It’s liek describing anything on “Dark Side of the Moon” as a deep cut... some records were just so universally beloved and played to death that every track is a stone cold classic.
“Lounge Act”, under-rated track, though Nevermind is an album with all hits. All Hits. The album delivers, the whole thing. Whole album, boom! Fantastic. Infinitely listenable.
The weirdest thing is that this might be the first time we’ve seen someone read or write anything in Star Wars.
“and a two-episode narrative diversion that derailed the entire premise of this being a show about Boba Fett”
I heard about this and my immediate thought was “Oh, they Nomura’d it, where if you didn’t engage with this other side thing, then you’d have no idea what was going on in the mainline series at the next…
Yeah it’s a tricky wire to walk between inclusivity and sensibility. Although I can see a Hip Hop honors org doing similar crossovers for influencers/etc outside of hip hop. I mean why not.
Kate Bush, the New York Dolls, Devo, and Judas Priest have all been nominated three times.
I found her performance in Lotus just not believable as an actual IRL person. Alexandra Daddario meanwhile did by far the best work of her career playing a woman who wants to be more than a trophy, and Murray Bartlett put up the best comedic performance of the year among shows I’ve seen.
I mean I agree? But Jennifer Coolidge has been playing this part for most of her career. It’s not even the best example. I don’t see how it “stands out”.
That screenshot from the video kinda makes it look like he is sitting on Charlemagne’s lap.
Well, the fact that this piece includes seven people, rather than 200, might tip you off to the fact that it’s not meant to be comprehensive. As to why Steve Martin was not one of the seven chosen for this taxonomy: Mainly, because he hasn’t done *that* much drama. I’d categorize him alongside Bill Murray and Robin…
“This was beyond anything I had experienced in my 30-year career.”
