The problem is in the economy of characters. There’s only like, four people that could be the murderer.

As I said above, they are really leaning into his teeth. He’s biting, he’s stress-flashing them on TV, i mean these chompers taking up 50% of the frame in some shots.

This whole show is about Hugh Grant’s teeth and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.

I like how the ship is becoming a character in this series. It’s great to see how a shiny prequel-like ship can turn into a grimy ToT ship from a New Hope. Just keeps getting fucked up and getting repaired, but the character of each repairman kind of takes the ship in a new direction. I hope they don’t abandon it.

Yeah very weird, unless we’re supposed to assume that gun possession is a normal occurrence.

Maybe AVclub is not the right club for you

Wasnt this part of a whole campaign, albeit with other directors, that all were basically “dreams” about the Z?
Also I remember a whole fracas around speed ads at the time. There were a lot more causal ads that glorified speeding. Eventually the ads became very conservative.

She looks like a different person in that photo, I had to GIS her to remember which part she was in the Americans.

Making that show is just to avoid “professional radio show guest” appearing next to his name in press.

Still, the notion that DUNE could be *colorful* is super compelling and something that I wished survived. It doesnt need to be auteur cinema, but V’s version could have taken a couple more risks like that.

Out of Pocket Costs II: Back in the Pocket

That has got to be one of the worst trailers I have ever seen. Even by late 80s screwball comedy standards. It makes the movie look like a boring road trip with the parents.

The success of this filmed version feels way too downplayed in your review.

“Prison wasn’t my fault! It’s the SOUTH”

He shoulda been fired just for writing a “THINK AGAIN” post.

“entirely in the states” is definitely a line that sticks out here.

This definitely fell into that “movies i didnt get the first time around” but for whatever reason, stuck in my head longer than i expected, and by the second or third viewing developed a real affinity for. I guess i just love hanging around these characters, but only after i got to know them better.

This is the equivalent of the 14 year old who finally got to sit at the adult’s table and decides to tell cringey dirty jokes and swear awkwardly.

Aphex Twin has been steadily releasing new material since his re-emergence in 2014. I think it’s safe to say he’s active and not “re-emerging” with each new release. And thank goodness for that! And double thanks that the material is on par with his 90s work.

Good god, are we all going to start listening to the Carpenters again?
