You don’t have to fake anything. I guess I’m getting to the point where I’m just not even sure what benefit there is to Jalopnik reviewing cars in this segment. There doesn’t seem to be much added value.

This is a bad look for you, deal with your poor editorial choices.
The current review trend of “we have to review this crossover, and it’s fine, but we hate it and it represents everything wrong with the market” is not as avant garde as they think.
Got to love Jalopnik - some pos death machine gets reviewed lovingly. Some nice, functional, safe new car gets shit on.
Maybe, but they could still try to do something distinctive, experimental, or just particular to the different lines to aid differentiation (like showing a ton of tiny home gimmicks into the Taos).
so, its the same as every VW ever since their name is literally the people’s car. they made another car for the people, and might make a slightly warmer trim line as they are known to do.
Except he said the same thing more than a year ago and not long after the unveiling:
100% agree.
Bob Lutz wrote extensively about this concept in his book, Car Guys Vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business. The GM marketing people would focus group designs given to them by the studio. Those designs were graded on a 1-10 scale based on how the focus group responded. Lutz wasn’t…
I guess you either like their brand or you don’t. As a fan of Top Gear and The Grand Tour, I’m looking forward to this.
Why is this article so bitter?

Exactly. This is either stupidity or virtue signaling. Focusing on cars as a source of carbon emissions is idiotic to begin with, since personal cars account for less than 9% of carbon emissions globally. And focusing on manufacturers that small, of cars that get driven only a small number of miles, is even more…
Here’s a great example of EU bureaucrats wasting time on nonsense. Forcing low-volume automakers to produce less-polluting models is such a false economy (in terms of the environment) that it’s hardly even worth the trouble. Most models from automakers delivering less than 10.000 cars per year are almost certainly for…
Yeah, YOU tell your boss that. I’ll wait. :)
I can see the embedded video when I load the page in a browser without tracking shields.
Exactly. I can’t speak for Mercedes, but I worked at a dealer group with a Porsche store, and Porsche is absolutely militant when it comes to exporters, and we had to do checks on buyers and turn down business because a buyer came up on their exporter list. Selling to an exporter could lead to sanctions by the…
some manufacturers fine/pull the franchise if dealership’s are found to be knowingly selling cars that will be exported
Liar! Latifi is the least decorated. Maybe.
- From a plot standpoint, this wasn’t a strong episode. Even the animation felt a bit off. Why would “Sticky” be the only sperm to recognize Morty and decide not to harm him? Why does “Sticky” have a single eye and two tails? Why does the Sperm Queen have two eyes and the ability to speak? Why do none of the other…
