The current driver’s test in any state in the United States is barely an examination of your ability to operate a motor vehicle. What it is is an examination to determine if you can remember what the rules of the road are. Your license - which can be revoked at any time - is your agreement to follow those rules.
It will come to your door, drop you off at your door, and has no infrastructure to build other than base station facilities. It’s feasible to replace your private car with one of these with fewer drawbacks than going to mass-transit system.
It’s about time America admitted that it doesn’t think it has any bad drivers. We should admit that we take shelter in the all-important DL. We pretend that our driver’s licenses absolve us of our failures as drivers, but they don’t.
This is a dumb take that is easily disproven by anyone who still remembers their driver’s ed class.
