I feel like there’s probably a certain amount of “I didn’t like Ghostbusters 2016" = “I’m a woman-hating horror of a human being” going on that makes me really hesitant to watch any of this show. Because I guarantee I’ll find flaws and I equally guarantee that nobody will want to hear them over the din of praise. I…
This react, overreact, report and analyse cycle is exhausting.
Ehem, the straights? Generalising much? Because stright people can't tolerate homosexuality right?
Is it at all possible that a large number of people just wanted to see a faithful adaptation of a really popular game? Must they all be hateful bigots?
Oh my god the internet was a mistake
What happens if we just ignore the little homophobic babies whenever they review bomb something? Bet those CHUDS love the attention they are getting right now.
Why do you have to say “the straights”? Your prejudice is just as awful as the people who are review bombing. I am straight, and I thoroughly enjoyed the episode. I never once thought what a fantastic depiction of queer love. I only thought about how beautiful a depiction it was of an excellent relationship.
A.) This was as predictable as the sunrise. Is it really newsworthy?
Yes they are and it sucks.
It’s the WoW MMO-bubble all over again.
I’ve been begging for functional pocket doors, glass walls, and true infinity pools since the game first came out and somehow they got around to addressing this niche minority gender issue before adding in some essential architectural or design features... you know because pRiOrItIeS
It really seems like they had a stern “talking to” about mentioning Jeff.
I’m worried about his choice to do everything solo. As Nextlander (and Kinda Funny and Giant Bomb itself) have proven, the content is better when there are multiple “regulars” who can play off each other. If this new podcast is just Jeff monologuing for hours at a time, I suspect I’ll fall off pretty quick.
“We’re going to be fully transparent with you. Also: don’t ask! We’re not telling you sh**.”
GB is better at reading the room than this. Them barely acknowledging anything only raises further questions.
He basically said they never got any work done because WWE would order projects and then cancel them or put them in a vault. The directive was basically “give everyone a podcast”, only to kill every single one of them. He said they had a pretty dope Attitude Era rewatch podcast in the works with Gargano, Cole, Bivens…
part of the problem can be scope creep and maybe a little greed, you know? Should you stay as an amateurish small group doing what you do? Should you expand and hire more people? Raise production values? Should you seek a corporate entity to buy you out and get a fat pay check in the process? When you have a family to…
It’s crazy that they sort of, set the stage. They created Giant Bomb and started doing things no one else was really doing (that now everyone does). They sold to CBS in 2012, Patreon didn’t start until 2013. I imagine things would be quite different if they had remained around to get themselves to the Patreon days.
Ya know, the answer to not getting burnt out working for a large corporation is to stop selling out to the large corporation.
This isn’t specific to Giant Bomb, and yes economics have changed in the past 15 years, but the Entrepreneur treadmill seems to go like:
