It took my wife and I three nights to finish Civil War, and on the final night she said, “Why don’t we finish that punch-kicker movie?” And damned if the last act wasn’t three characters punching and kicking each other for half an hour. At that point I realized I was watching a three hour movie about my least favorite…

Which was hardly surprising given the neckbeard contingent were indeed out in force - but the kneejerk “if those assholes don’t like it it must be good” reaction played right into Epic’s transparent marketing ploy. Noone came out of that looking good.

You know that games can update themselves, no ‘launcher’ required, right? That is not a function solely enabled by said launchers but one that has been subsumed by launchers to ‘simplify’ the management of multiple game titles.

No one is asking anyone to use Steam. People are voluntarily choosing to publish on Steam, because that’s literally their best option.

Yes I recall the response to Epic’s store getting the usual “the racist gamers are at it again” treatment.

It’s not a monopoly if you’re the only one who bothers to sell a quality product.

While I agree with you on Ninty,  in my story Bethesda’s policy is complete TRASH.

How about we ditch having to have a launcher and all this other software running just to run a game all together? Imagine just installing and playing games...
