Birkins and Kellys have been around since the 60’s I believe. They will never be over. They are a signal of one’s worth (in certain circles). Just like men have their fancy cars, women have outrageously expensive accessories. To many people, these things indicate exclusivity and wealth.
They are hand made by one artisan from start to finish. They have trained for many years to be able to make the bag. Only a select few make the bags, hence the waiting list.
Agreed. The people who own and use a Birkin or any bag with a short strap is indicating that they do not need to put the bag on their shoulder because they do not need to use both arms for things such as holding a child, or carrying something else. The help does that.
