It’s only abandonment if there was no agreement from the parents to store his belongings for him. I’ve been storing items for family and friends for years in my garage. I can’t just turn around and throw the stuff away, I agreed to store it. I have to give notice and allow time to move the items if I change my mind.

If it doesn’t bring you any respect than it has at least shown you who is not worth your time. It brings self-respect.
