No, you cannot decide to be sober, but you can decide not to drive. Suicide is an action, not a condition. Wanting to kill yourself IS a condition, actually doing it is a decision. Or should we not hold drunk drivers responsible for their actions because their brain is impaired?

I never said you could decide not to be suicidal. I said the fact that actually killing yourself is a choice you can possible not make, doesn’t make it a fair comparison to cancer. You can’t decide to not die of cancer either. 

To be fair, it’s impossible to decide you don’t have cancer. It is possible (though yes, very difficult in that situation) to decide not to kill yourself.

It doesn’t really make the best comparison.

And according to the story, the city’s decision to allow medallions to be leased out is what caused the ridiculous inflation.
