Open carry is illegal in Illinois and you need a CCW. This pre-empted Chicago’s awkward registration system.  Chicago’s law allows for carrying on one’s own property outside and inside the home.

Isn’t it illegal to carry in Chicago even if you have a carry permit for the state?  I’m not saying the shooting was justified, just asking a question.
