Congratulations Rex, you've won another summer & fall of getting asked "Are you worried about your job security?" while your owner twiddles his thumbs & tries to pretend like no person in the organization makes those kinds of decisions & they just get an anonymous letter every December telling them if the coach stays.

The celebration is actually members of national sporting media. No word yet on why they are wearing Jets jerseys.

Thats the point I was trying to make above about the disparity between the Jets and Giants (but it could be many other teams). The Jets (and the media and fans) for some reason find every excuse for Rex. Its always, he didn't have a QB (except the guy he pushed the team to trade up for in Sanchez), they had no skill

I wonder what Rex and Mrs. ihaveprettyfeet will do to celebrate with the team?

that one armed Florida basketball guy

If that doesn't tell you all that is wrong with the NY Jets what does. I'm happy that Rex gets to keep his job. His players play for him and they like him, but the fact that this team appears to have peaked under him is something that cannot be ignored. I blame the media in NY for not demanding more of this team.

This isn't Pop Warner. This is professional football. They don't count moral victories.
Any calm appraisal shows Ryan's football teams have been mediocre at best the past three seasons.

No, actually I wouldn't. The Browns gave Chud one season, whereas Ryan has been with the Jets for five, and while he is 41-38 overall (excluding playoffs), he is 22-26 over the last three.
By any stretch, he hasn't been good of late.

Now there's no guarantee Sanchez's shoulder doesn't turn in to Swiss Cheese during the regular season, but starting him at the end of a meaningless pre-season game has to be one of his dumber decisions.
He might not have much to work with because he doesn't know how to manage what he has.

Sanchez had some play-off wins, once upon a time.

And if you aren't willing to say they aren't getting worse under Ryan, the last three years indicate they aren't getting any better.

Did you ever notice the crappy NFL teams all seem to have egotistical over-involved owners like Woody here who refuse to just sit back and allow their people do their jobs?

I had the same reaction...

I am thrilled by this news. The Patriots just clinched the 2014 AFC East title yet again.

I live in NY and the disparity between the two teams here is crazy. The Jets went 8-8, one game better than the Giants, and its like they won the Super Bowl, while the Giants season (their first losing year on a decade) is being treated like a complete disaster, like they went 1-15.

I think it's kind of hilarious that the guy he hugs is Matt Simms.

The pure joy on display at going 8-8 for the second time in three years (book-ending a 6-10 season) and the coach not being fired because of it tells you all you need to know about the New York Jets.

so that's why they gave him a Gatorade bath for an 8-8 finish!

God Almighty, why do people keep citing Spring Breakers as one of the best movies of the year?! It should not only be on this year's worst list, it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. There was about 11 minutes of actual film and dialogue used in the entire run-time, placed on loop, and it wasn't a very good

Calling Die Hard With A Vengeance anything other than 'pretty good' is criminal. It's good enough, damn it.
