Oh dang, ever since I first played PUBG, I definitely wondered how it would be if the gunplay handled like CS:GO.

I meaaaan, tiers are contingent on skill level imo, and 90% of the time, the benefit of picking a character that suits you far outweighs picking the “better” character. There’s no reason to force it. If you’re good enough, you’ll know if you need to switch.

I mean, people are interested in solving puzzles, as well as in learning the ins and outs of a game? Often it’s an appreciation for the intricacies and interactions (both intended and unintended) that happen when you try to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

The Teensy is an offbrand arduino clone. You could do it with a Pi, but I think it’d only be able to control the pi? maybe the Pi Zero would be able to do it. I’m not sure. A teensy is around $7, tho, so there’s not much reason to pick the pi over it, unless you already have one.

The guy who owns novelkeys is building one for a guiness world record, IIRC

I think that’s fair. Maybe I’ve just been lucky enough to be away from some of the more toxic/vocal parts of the community. I’ve only really been involved with my school’s club, and the occasional tournament that happens to be in the area.

If you wanna talk 3rd Strike, there’s also Gill, who isn’t a reasonable choice by any means; but if you need an example of a situation where it’s literally the character, it’s there. If you want an example of a character that’s not a secret boss character, there’s also Petshop in JJBA, and I’m sure there are tons of

Do you actually believe that no character in the history of fighting games has needed to be nerfed or buffed?

it’s... a little more complicated than that. Lemme preface this by saying that I’m 100% in favor of the smashbox and all alternative controllers.

The reason people stick with the scene isn’t because it stays the same- it’s because it changes; because after over a decade, we’re still learning more about how the game works, and how to play well. We’re not stuck repeating the same motions over and over again; we’re evolving and pushing forwards.

i’m sorry, but where do these things happen? we’re mostly amazed that nintendo continued making gc controllers for sm4sh. We’d like Melee HD, but know better than to be optimistic about it. Who have you been talking to and why have they been representing our community in this way?

How is it abhorrrent to the game?

So, why not let the community decide on a fair ruleset instead of being so hung up on using the exact thing that is on the cartridge? The scene can flourish as a grassroots effort, rather than everyone just waiting around and doing nothing until nintendo makes a move, plus everyone who enters a tournament is well

Let’s say a perfect pokemon has a 1% chance of existing.

What is being hurt by people being able to rapidly iterate their strategies by generating teams?

It’s more like other games than it is like sports. What if you had to carve your own chess set to play competitive chess? Say, if you roughly carved your bishop, it could only move one space at a time, instead of all the way across the board.

Tournament organizers go by a different set of rules, such as not using a combination of items and moves that infinitely stall out a game. Everyone who enters a tournament is participating while having full knowledge of the tournament’s ruleset. What’s wrong about that?

So you’re saying that all of the organizing, all of the planning and discussion about rulesets are things that shouldn’t happen because they’re not directly passed down to us from the “powers that be”, despite the fact that people entering these tournaments are fully aware that all legal pokemon are allowed?

What the game devs pursue is not the same thing as what tournament organizers pursue. If you had any sense, you’d recognize that the two are separate “games”.

I’m just saying, there’s also stuff like this. (if it’s not clear, falcon runs faster than fox under equal conditions and it’s a well known part of the meta)
