Mental illness (and substance abuse) is very real and, as a society, we should be more sympathetic to those who suffer from it. More importantly, we should be trying to get mentally ill people the help that they need so they don’t harm themselves or anyone else.
There are a lot of seriously mentally ill people among the homeless here in California. I see behavior like this all the time.
